“I think when you look back on your own childhood, you can always remember those teachers that really spark that love of learning. And I think as I went through education, those individuals stood out and really kind of inspire you to keep going and better yourself, and you sort of look up to them, but I don’t think you realise that until you’re a little bit older.

As a teacher, you want to give the children those role models to follow, because ultimately you want them to progress and leave the world in a better place than they found it.

Education is one of the most important things in terms of social mobility, well-being, mental health, giving people the tools to better themselves and follow their passions and be able to build a life that will make them happy. And not only that, then you’ve got all the benefits in terms of community and the wider scale things across the country.”
