Simon co-founded Inspiring Teachers (as LRTT) in 2011 to expand professional learning opportunities for untrained teachers in southwestern Uganda.

At the time, he was a high school science teacher. But as Inspiring Teachers has grown, he has also worked in startups and built partnerships for large nonprofits.

Simon is a Teach For All Social Innovation Fellow and Global Social Benefit Alumnus. He has an MA in Educational Leadership and advises the World Bank’s coach team on teacher development programs.

Tom co-founded LRTT with Simon and others in 2011. At the time he was leading in-country operations for Volunteer Uganda, an organisation he and Simon setup to in 2008 to support education in rural Uganda.

Tom oversees product design and technology for the platform and set of tools that make Inspiring Teachers programmes possible.

Tom is an Agora Partnerships Alumnus and as an expert in digital media production, he oversees our film programmes capturing footage of inspiring teaching around the world.

Charles leads Inspiring Teachers program delivery, evaluation and systems partnerships in Uganda.

He brings a decade of experience managing teaching quality-focused research projects. Through his work at Mango Tree, RTI and Ichuli Institute, he managed dozens of research projects and randomized trials, using technology to support data collection by large teams of enumerators.

Charles’s experience has given him powerful insights into challenges and opportunities around teacher development in low-resource contexts. He uses these insights to help our product and program design team build impactful products and programs.

Gloria was part of Inspiring Teachers’s first program in 2011 and has since gone on to co-lead it in Kanungu district.

An experienced educator, Gloria led our early work running communities of practice with STiR Education from 2014-16. Since then, she has managed our coaching programs in Kanungu.

In 2019, Gloria was certified as a World Bank TEACH Master Trainer, and today, she supports our product design team by managing pilots in Kanungu.

Lukasz is an experienced software engineer and has led technology development at Inspiring Teachers since 2016.

He builds our apps for teachers and the portals we provide to our partners, team leaders and Fellows, continually finding new ways to make our programs more effective.

Before Inspiring Teachers, Lukasz was a software engineer in high growth startups. He worked at LiveChat Inc and before that, Storygami, where he was part of the 500 Startups Accelerator.

Priscilla has headed our Uganda Hub since we built our lodge on the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Doubling as a training facility, the lodge is Inspiring Teachers’s spiritual home, and it provides the perfect base to run both design sprints and ongoing programs from.

Priscilla is a respected community leader, recognized for the contributions her work has made in Kanungu, and has been part of our team since 2011.

Nicolas has overseen finance and analytics at Inspiring Teachers since 2016. He brings ten years of experience in banking and data services, which has given him a strong analytical skill set that he uses to help us continually improve our programs.

Nic is a Global Social Benefit Institute Alumnus and works closely with our partners and program teams to help them run efficient, data-driven and impactful programs.

Denis is a digital marketing expert and helps us run data-driven marketing campaigns.

He started his career at Google and now runs an innovative school in Lviv, Ukraine.

Joseph leads the Ghana National Association of Private Schools in the Ashanti Region and has also led relationship management with schools in our region participating in our programs.

Geoff is the Chief Product Officer at MyTutor. He was previously Chief Product Officer at Babbel, one of the world’s largest language learning apps, where he designs and oversees the development of products for millions of users.

He brings this experience, alongside his background in software engineering and education at Cambridge Assessment, to advise our team on product leadership, design and development.

Geoff was born in South Africa and has contributed to various innovative initiatives at the nexus of education and teaching.

Sarah is a longstanding trustee of Inspiring Teachers, and before that, our partner charity Inspiring Futures. She first got involved in 2008 when she worked with Simon and Tom as a volunteer supporting schools in Kanungu District.

She works for Peabody, a UK housing association, where she designs and oversees innovative community mobilization programs. She is also a trustee of leading mental health charity, Together for Mental Wellbeing.

Chaitra has been an advisor to our leadership team since she supported our monitoring and evaluation work in Uganda in 2015 while studying at Harvard School of Education.

Chaitra founded Leadership Institute for Teachers (LIFT) and led large scale teacher training programs in Nigeria and East Africa for New Globe. She is passionate about finding scalable ways to support teachers. Today, she is Head of Teacher Development at Teach For All.

Sundar has been advising the Inspiring Teachers leadership team on business strategy since he supported Simon and Nicolas during the 2018 Global Social Benefit Institute Accelerator.

He brings 25 years of experience in Silicon Valley, where he leads a large business unit for Applied Materials, a leading microprocessor development firm.

Sundar was born in India and is passionate about using his experience to support innovative organizations expanding access to quality education.

Mahlon first joined Inspiring Teachers as a Fellow in India in 2015 when he was a history teacher. After that, he led programs in Belize and became a training lead at Ark Schools before becoming our first head of training design.

As well as being an expert in teacher training design, Mahlon is an experienced diversity and inclusion training leader and advisor. Now based in Canada, he continues to play a supporting role in our efforts to expand diversity and inclusion across our community.

Chris has three decades of experience building great teams and organizations that make an impact at scale. Over his career as a venture capitalist, he has been chair of leading organizations, including high-growth startups like Shazaam, to the leading girls’ education nonprofit Camfed.

Chris has coached Simon and Tom and advises us on finance and fundraising. Born in South Africa, he is passionate about building great organizations that solve problems at scale.

Christine has been part of our program design team since 2020. She brings a wealth of experience as a teacher trainer, curriculum developer, educator and researcher to help us design robust programs and tools that are both practical and grounded in the latest evidence.

Christine has a particular interest in literacy and works as a Research Associate at Western University in Ontario. She researches how teachers can support children in developing self-regulation in writing.
